Alocasia Silver Dragon can follow the general care routine for the Alocasia group, with a focus on an airy growing medium, moisture control, proper watering, balanced nutrition, and preventive disease management.

1. Growing Medium

Use a growing medium that retains adequate moisture while maintaining good aeration to help reduce poor airflow around the roots and waterlogging.

The recommended Alocasia growing medium includes:

• Coconut coir
• Properly treated rice husk or carbonized rice husk
• Coconut fiber chunks
• A thin layer of sphagnum moss on the surface

The goal is to maintain suitable moisture while allowing the roots to breathe properly.

2. Watering

Avoid watering according to a fixed schedule. Before each watering, check the moisture level of the growing medium using your finger or a moisture meter.

When the surface has dried sufficiently and the moisture level has dropped, water slowly and evenly until a small amount of water begins to drain from the bottom of the pot.

Water early in the morning or in the late afternoon. Avoid watering at night to reduce prolonged moisture and the risk of fungal problems.

3. Fertilizing

Before applying root fertilizer, moisten the growing medium with clean water approximately 15–30 minutes beforehand.

Do not fertilize completely dry substrate because concentrated fertilizer salts can stress and damage the roots.

Slow-release organic fertilizer or worm castings can be applied periodically. Spread a thin layer over the surface, cover it with a thin layer of sphagnum moss, and water gently to help it break down gradually.
